The Prids share a psychedelic fever dream in their video for ‘Summer Cult’

Following the premiere of the video for the title track from their upcoming 4th full length Do I Look Like I’m In Love?, Portland Oregon’s Shoegazing Post-Punk heroes The Prids have premiered the video for the album’s second single: Summer Cult.

The song illustrates the best qualities from a band that has been around for over 20 years; swirling with the aether that carries the frequencies of artists on labels such as 4AD or Creation Records, yet maintaining the DIY ethos established via the band’s label This-a-Way Records.

The video playfully evokes the kind of late 60’s and early 70’s atmospheric pagan cult psychedelia found in Nico’s film for the 1969 track Evening Of The Light.

The Prids explain the song’s meaning via an official press statement:

“Summer Cult” is an American fever dream…surrounded by artificial people and disposable culture, what will rational people be devout about?

We at Post-Punk.com want to thank The Prids for being an authentic and integral part of the independent music scene, and we are glad they were able to make this record.

Do I Look Like I’m In Love?is out October 20th.
